World Bellydance Day 2013 is upon us! As of 4:30 on Friday May 10th, Saroya of Atlanta will have joined us in Grand Forks, and if you’re reading this, you’re probably visiting our website for one of two reasons:
1. You have no idea who the Lovely Dozen or Saroya are, but saw a vehicle with this URL written on its car window and thought you’d check it out 🙂 or…
2. You are a Workshop or Show attendee in need of directions to our events with Saroya of Atlanta this weekend
Either way, welcome to our website! We’re so excited you’re here and can’t wait to show you what we’ve got going on this weekend! Here’s what’s happening:
Saturday, May 11th:
10:00am ShimmyMob (a national Domestic Violence awareness campaign, sponsored by the CanadInns and YMCA, with funds to benefit CVIC) – a Flashmob style event to occur in the lobby of the CanadInn, danced by 20 local (and not so local 🙂 dancers with varying levels of Bellydance experience. Ever been curious about Bellydance but not looking to commit to a full show or class? Come check this little performance out – it won’t last more than 5 minutes though so you’ll want to be there ontime!
8:00 pm Stage Show with Saroya of Atlanta – Saroya is a professional Bellydancer with over 30 years of experience who we have flown in from Atlanta, GA to teach a series of workshops with over 25 dancers from the Tri-State area (North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota), all of whom will be performing some variation of Bellydance from around the world at this amazing show! Firehall Theatre (downtown Grand Forks, on the corner of 4th and University) Tickets onsale at the door, $8. A portion of every ticket will go to benefit the Community Violence Intervention Center (CVIC).
Now, if you’re a workshop participant looking for directions, here’s the number to call for someone who can tell you where to go: Natasha can be reached at 218-791-4220. Otherwise, you can find maps to our various locations for the weekend HERE, or look for signs with the letters “WBD” (or cars with this website written on them!) to lead you to appropriate places to park and shimmy 🙂
Happy World Bellydance Day!
