It is that time of year again for ZombieFest! We will be bellydancing at the event this year, but, THE TIME WE PERFORM IS QUITE DIFFERENT. We will be dancing at 5:45 p.m. this Saturday at the Townhouse Hotel, which is on the way into downtown Grand Forks, on Demers Avenue. Troupe members and students will take to the stage with a ghoulish carnival theme portraying characters from near and far! Come join us to watch as our story unfolds!
ATTENTION BELLYDANCE STUDENTS AND TROUPE MEMBERS PERFORMING AT ZOMBIEFEST!! Since we are performing at 5:45 p.m. instead of the original 8 p.m., please meet at the studio as close to 4 as you can if you would like help with makeup, or meet at the Townhouse at 5 p.m. in costume and ready to perform. We will keep you updated through this site and Facebook if anything else changes.
Starting this Sunday there will be two masterclasses where Natasha (Aremi) will be leading a series on Musicality for Bellydancers (sensitivity to and knowledge of music)! The first session will be this Sunday, October 6 at 4:30 p.m. and the topic will be “Demystifying the Music,” with drums, Middle Eastern rhythms and dance drills. The second session will be Sunday, October 13 at 4:30 p.m. and the topic will be “Embodying the Band,” with foundational knowledge to strengthen your improvisational skills.
Another opportunity available to learn bellydance will be offered through the North Dakota Ballet Company at 1726 S. Washington Street, Grand Forks, but the date and time is to be determined. Come learn about the ancient and powerful art of Classic Egyptian Dance! Let local Middle Eastern Dancer Natasha Thomas take you on a journey from the Golden Age of traditional Bellydance to Modern-Day Cairo, where dancers are groomed from a very young age to perform this highly stylized form of dance in traditional routines and locations from smalltown restaurant gigs to full size stage shows. Stay tuned for when this masterclass will be available!
