We hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season, even if it is freezing outside! A great way to warm up those muscles and let the cold melt away would be to attend the last two yoga classes of the year. Yogafit will be on Saturday, Dec. 14 and Saturday, Dec. 21 at 9:30 a.m! YogaFit, taught by Deb Vein, who is trained with in-depth experience and skills in yoga, anatomy and fitness, is designed to improve the health, performance and mental acuity of athletes or individuals interested in improving their level of fitness. Based on the ancient fitness science of hatha yoga, it blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format. YogaFit overcomes the mystery ofyoga by delivering a practical, user-friendly style, which is accessible, understandable, and doable by individuals at any level of fitness. The YogaFit style reduces the risk of injury and augments recovery for ailments including stress, lower back pain and tension.
Please stay tuned to the website for details about the class in the new year.
A Starry Yule
This Saturday five of us from the Lovely Dozen troupe will be traveling to Brainerd, Minn. to perform with Vespertine Tribal and many other local dancers and musicians in A Starry Yule! We are so excited to be a part of this event, and can’t wait to see our dance friends and make some new ones!
Celebrate the Nite
Once again we will be performing on New Years Eve at Celebrate the Nite! Members from our troupe will be dancing for an hour starting at 7 p.m. Come on out to the Alerus Center for all sorts of activities to ring in the New Year!
Burlesque from Madame Mercury
Ever wanted to learn the art of burlesque, but were too scared? Madame Mercury is here to put your fears aside. She will be teaching a three part master class on the art of burlesque on Sundays in December at 4:30 p.m., and it’s not too late to join in! Come and learn the basics of burlesque, including movements, combinations, getting comfortable in your skin and the element of the tease. Madame Mercury will show you how to release your inner bombshell! Don’t worry; this class is structured where you don’t have to strip. You can learn in a comfortable and safe environment. Students should wear comfortable clothing that allows full movement, and clothing type will be discussed in the first class to wear to remaining classes. It is recommended to bring water, since things can get a little hot and sizzling, and you might need to wet your whistle. The material in this class series is for mature audiences, therefore students must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Come and slip into a more ‘festive’ holiday spirit!
Our first ever drum circle last weekend was very successful with many familiar faces, and new ones as well! Starting in January, the drum circle will be the first Sunday of every month at 6 p.m. We have various styles of drums in the studio, but if you have one please feel free to bring it with you. The Drum Circle doesn’t cost anything, but free will donations going toward our studio space are graciously welcomed.
