THANK YOU so much to everyone who made it out to our first ever Bellylouge! We had a wonderful evening of dancing, socializing and welcoming familiar and new faces into the Bellydance community. We plan to do this every month, so stay tuned to the website and Facebook for more details!
Tribal Wonderland is This Weekend!
A few of us from the troupe will be heading out today to the Tribal Wonderland Retreat with Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman and Megha Gavin hosted by Gaia Sophia! We are so thrilled and we will try to keep you updated on Facebook with posts and photos throughout the weekend, or when we get back. Yip!
Steps in Time
This will be a new class offered at the Lovely Dozen dance studio on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. starting Friday, February 7, and will be taught by Jenny Morris! To begin with we’ll be focusing on some regency dances (1790s to early 1800s). Think Jane Austen, but also expect to see some Scottish Country dances and more. These dances are light and fun, and one and all are welcome! Whether you’ve been dancing all your life or have never danced a note! Please drop in any time you can and we can’t wait to see you!
Bollywood and Bhanghra Masterclass Series in February
Come join Karlene (Thura), at the Lovely Dozen dance studio for a masterclass series on February 9th and 16th at 4:30 pm! She will be offering a fun, bouncy and energetic class where we will go over the fundamentals of a few classical Indian dance styles, Bollywood and Bhanghra. She will also talk about costumes from these dance styles and teach a little choreography to Pretty Woman! Hope to see you there!
Come join us for the first ever Lovely Dozen Studios SHIMMYTHON! Proceeds to benefit AMTA (American Music Therapy Association).
Saturday, February 8th: 4:30 p.m.
Lovely Dozen Studios: 1604 S. Washington, Grand Forks, ND
A Shimmython is like a marathon for bellydancers – you SHIMMY til you just can’t SHIMMY no mo’! Every Shimmython has different rules and regulations for participants and donors, but our goal is to make this an event that anyone can take part in, no matter their dance experience or monetary capabilities!

Donors can contribute via Paypal or you can sponsor a dancer or team by sending a message to email@example.com or by liking us on Facebook and sending a comment with the name of the dancer/team you’d like to sponsor and number of dollars per shimmy minute or other conditional donation. Starting January 5th, the drum circle will be the first Sunday of every month at 6 p.m. We have various styles of drums in the studio, but if you have one please feel free to bring it with you. The Drum Circle doesn’t cost anything, but free will donations going toward our studio space are graciously welcomed.
