Musicality, Kids Day and Bellylounge!

Shimmying in the South

Natasha and Jenna just returned from Tribal Con 2014 in Atlanta, GA. They attended lectures and dance workshops throughout the weekend on many different styles of tribal dance, including ITS, combinations of tribal fusion and Rajasthani movement. It was an inspiring cultural experience with influential teachers and dance sisters from around the country!

Musicality Masterclass Series Two Sundays in March

The Musicality Masterclass will be taught by Natasha (Aremi) on Sunday, March 9 and Sunday, March 16. Musicality, or ‘sensitivity to and knowledge of music’ (Miriam-Webster) is a crucial part of performance for any serious dancer! This 2-part mixed lecture/dance class will be multi-tiered to accommodate a variety of musicianship experiences, from the total novice to the more seasoned musician or performer. Come to just one, or come to both to meet your musical needs, but no matter what, this class will be a tremendous prep for improvisational dance!

Then on Sunday, March 23 there will a makeup Hip Hop Fusion class taught by Jenna (Saphira)!

Steps in Time

This is a new class offered at the Lovely Dozen dance studio on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. and will be taught by Jenny Morris! To begin with we’ll be focusing on some regency dances (1790s to early 1800s). Think Jane Austen, but also expect to see some Scottish Country dances and more. These dances are light and fun, and one and all are welcome! Whether you’ve been dancing all your life or have never danced a note! Please drop in any time you can and we can’t wait to see you!

On the Horizon

Stay tuned to our classes and calendar on the main website for up to the minute news on what we’re teaching in the Studio, or where we’re performing around town, namely our monthly events like Kids Day (coming up on the 3rd Saturday of every month) and the Bellylounge (4th Saturday), where Lovely Dozen Troupe members put on Restaurant Quality Performances in a laid back Coffee-Shop style environment. Many of these events are “Pay What you Can,” and classes are a great way to meet new people and challenge your body to firm, strengthen, and tone, in fun and exciting new ways!

Next Kids Day: Our next Kids Day will be Saturday, March 15 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Bring your kids for an afternoon of Middle Eastern dance moves, games and activities! Stay with them at our studio or drop them off for a  few hours (we will require a liability form to be signed). For more information check out our Facebook page.

Next Bellylounge: Our next Bellylounge evening will be Friday, March 21. Stay tuned to the website and our Facebook page for details about when it begins and the various performance sets. Stop by for a relaxed evening of Middle Eastern dance, snacks and a casual atmosphere to study or hang out.

The Bellydance Beat Goes On

Check out our main events page on this site for information on Lauren Boldt, coming to us in May from Bellydance Evolution in California (an International Touring Company producing Theatrical Productions of Bellydance-themed shows, most recently Alice in Wonderland, in which our guest plays the starring role!)

We hope to see you around soon!
