We are back from our wonderful and exciting journey out to Bismarck where we performed with the Sleepy Hollow Theater during their Midsummer Festival. We spent the afternoon leading demos with the kids, we took the stage at 7 p.m. and danced for an hour. Afterward we invited any of our audience members to join us for an open jam session and were ready for heart warming photo opportunities with the kids!
The next phase of our summer will include dancing at the Sertoma 4th of July Celebration on the Greenway and the Art and Wine Walk on July 20. Stay tuned for exact times of these events!
Our big news as of late is we will be taking over the lease of our space at 1604 S. Washington Street, in the basement, starting July 11! We will have a grand opening of our dance space and we will become Lovely Dozen Studios!! We will keep you posted about the date and time.
Also starting July 11, we are overjoyed to announce that Amanda (Amaya) will be teaching American Tribal Style classes on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. We can’t wait to share in this journey with her and we invite you to join us!
Coming Soon: Julia Fernandez of Watertown, SD will be coming to kick off a new intensive series of classes we’re calling The Masterclass Series, starting August 10 and 17, times TBA. Julia will be teaching Flamenco Style, to be followed in September by more awesome intensives on specific forms of dance taught by Troupe members and special guests alike – keep it here for more details!
We had a fantastic time learning from Ranya Reneé this past weekend. The workshops were insightful, informative and focused on Egyptian movement. We met a lot of great people and very talented dancers/musicians! Now we have a packed belly dance week ahead of us! On Wednesday morning we will be dancing with students in the ELL program through the Summer Performing Arts. Saturday morning we hit the stage at noon for the Grand Cities Art Fest. We will be performing for an hour so stick around to see an eclectic variety of group numbers, solos and duets. Then, at 8 p.m. we will be guest performers in the Vixen Variety Show at the Alerus Center in the Players Ballroom. The show is for all ages and admission is only $5. Shimmy on everyone!

June 1st: Saphira and Aremi will be dancing at the Desert Journies show in Duluth, MN
June 8th: The Lovely Dozen will be performing at the Altru Sponsored Grand Cities Art Fest again this year! We hit the stage at 12 noon for an hour, so come out prepared to enjoy the sunshine!
June 22nd: Members of the Lovely Dozen will be traveling to the Sleepy Hollow Midsummer’s Festival again this year – our stage time is TBA, but if you live in the area you’ll definitely want to come out for this one.
We’ll be sure to update this page as more events and details arise, and of course classes will be continuing at the 12HousesBellydance and YMCA spaces all summer long, so no matter how you feel like enjoying Bellydance this summer, we’ve got you covered!
