We’re excited to present our newest community collaboration project:
The Zeina Warriors
A new endeavor in the world of live Bellydance performance. It’s not unusual to have a live band play for a dancer, but we decided to take that idea a step further…
From the Lovely Dozen: Aremi, Amaya, Briste Ean, and Nixie combine their love for dance with their improvisational and musical knowledge to create music as they dance. We take it to the next level by not only zilling, but bringing in Aremi (vocals/guitar) and Briste Ean’s (accordion) instrumental skills to bring in a whole new dimension to the live music and dance atmosphere.
We are joined by local musicians Bernie Thomas and Megan Peterson for this one-of-a-kind project!
Bernie Thomas is a drummer. He drums. On trap set, with sticks. And occasionally Djembes and Doumbeks, with his bare hands, because he’s a MAN. The only man in all of Zeina Warriors, in fact. You jealous? You should be.
Megan Peterson has been playing violin since she was 6 years old. She played in the St. Olaf Orchestra, which toured China her senior year at St. Olaf College. She mentors violinists in Northern Valley Youth Orchestras and plays in the Grand Forks Symphony.
